The Woodcock Family
“There are times when wisdom cannot be found in the chambers of parliament or the halls of academia but at the unpretentious setting of the kitchen table.” E. A. Bucchianeri
And that’s exactly where I found them when I arrived at their farm, the whole family gathered around the kitchen table.
Nothing invokes a stronger feeling of family to me than being gathered around the kitchen, making food messes with my sisters and mother, arguing about who’s turn it is to clean it up, and sitting at the same dinner table that has been my family table since I was a little girl.
I knew immediately, because of this instant triggering of a shared kitchen table experience, that I was going to love photographing the Woodcock family.
Their family is so down-to-earth and is comprised of farmers, teachers and military service, to name a few. I genuinely felt honored to get to spend a couple hours with them and witness the bond the two brothers share, the abounding love grandma has for her grandchildren, and the calming, patriarchal presence of grandpa.
Meet their family.
Not only does this family gather around the kitchen table, but they also gather afield and hunt together as a family. Before I had arrived, the men had gone out for a duck hunt together and had planned on an afternoon hunt after the session. They were going to pass on having me photograph them for that, but I did enough subtle prodding that they caved.
I am so happy they did because those photos turned out awesome and further shows the kind of bond this family has together. Stay tuned for the post, it’s coming up next 🙂
To the Woodcock family, may you enjoy many, many more years of gatherings around the kitchen table on the farm.
