The Realm of Your Own
“It is in your power to withdraw yourself whenever you desire. Perfect tranquility within consists in the good ordering of the mind, the realm of your own.”
― Marcus Aurelius,
One of the things I love most about owning my own business and being a photographer is the ability to decipher my own schedule day to day, and more, the benefits of having blocks of time free based on the wedding season.
For instance, I didn’t have any weddings booked during the month of July which allowed me a nice mid-season breather to re-charge before the rush of August, September, and October’s wedding schedule. I love having the power to withdraw (from social media and from people, etc) and recharge and dwell in simple tranquility. We have this misconception that we have to go somewhere to get away from it all. You don’t have to go on a vacation, go to an exotic location, or runaway and escape your life to find peace from the noise. I didn’t go anywhere and to be honest, can’t say that I really did anything eventful, other than a visit from my parents. And that’s A-OK because it gave me plenty of time and space to think about what’s coming.
Having July off ended up being a blessing in disguise for some personal reasons (not ready to share those yet, but soon). Changes have been brewing, I can feel the undertows and pulls in several different faucets of my life. A stirring.
I like change. I’m excited, anxious, and nervous. All good things to feel in life, if you ask me.
But August is here now, and it’s time to focus all energies on the upcoming, bound-to-be awesome, mountain weddings in store for this month 🙂
