The Painted Turtle
This is the time of year where we dress everything up – Christmas trees with ornate objects, we dress turkey with all the fixings, we dress up our gifts in pretty packaging (except me, I suck at that)…you get the point. Nature has it’s own ornate ways of dressing, take the painted turtle for example.
Painted turtles live for over 40 years in the wild, I wonder how long this one has been around? I love the wrinkles on the skin, the chipped shell, with algae growing on it’s edges, the unenthused look of being forced to model for a goofy photographer. So much character in such a small package.
“Let me be, was all I wanted. Be what I am, no matter how I am.”
― Henry Miller
