“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”
― Henry David Thoreau,
I think this quote strikes a cord with me because lately I feel a little confined to a certain season, even life stage, and not exactly content with it 100% of the time.
Winter is limiting.
Having a 1 year old is limiting.
Having to re-establish in a new area, both business and personally, is limiting.
Despite not having a typical 9-5, oddly enough being a stay-at-home mom is strangely limiting.
So yeah, I have been feeling some feels lately. I am ready for that rush of warm, sun-filled air to come back into my life and stay a little longer than a day or two, such as it did last week. I am ready to get dirt under my fingernails and plant gardens. I am ready to go on a trip, explore, be rejuvenated – but I know that is a little farther off down the road yet. That is a struggle of mine.
So it is important to remember to live in each season as it passes. Breath the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit. And can we agree, fruit tastes its most fulfilling to the soul in late winter? Thank God for imports.
