Obsession Unfurled

It was understated, unnoticed, ordinary for the last four months. It greets all that pass from the driveway, down the walkway, to the front door of the property we are renting.

The trees around here are beginning to leaf out, and as so a new obsession unfurled.

I am in love with a Japanese Maple.

Its scarlet leaves visible from the kitchen window where I wash the dishes. When the setting sun illuminates the leaves, I get lost in a trance between the elegant curves of the branches and bole and the foliage that appears to be set on fire with each pass of the sun.

I could photograph this one tree for days, so pretty and filling me so full of inspiration.

And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in the stones, and good in everything” William Shakespeare

Now I am going to have to invest in some to plant when we get into our new place. I cannot wait to get back to gardening. Definitely missing it this spring. Perhaps I will even have some of these images printed as wall art for our new home.
