Jacques & Paige | An Adirondack Fall Wedding
I knew I was going to love my last trip up into Lake Placid for Jacques & Paige’s vows. The fall air was crisp & permeated with wood fire smoke, and the fall colors were peak. It was perfect.
And for a couple who loves nature, it couldn’t have been any better.
Jacques is originally from South Africa and Paige from Colorado. They both live and work in NYC where Jacques is the head squash coach at Columbia University and Paige is the marketing director for a technology company that is dually based out of Manhattan and Stockholm, Sweden.
When Paige first inquired with me about their wedding, she described Jacques as a wonderfully kind man with an “oh so sexy South African accent” that was impossible to resist. She told me how he took her back to South Africa to meet his family and then on to Zimbabwe for some incredible adventures, including an elephant crashing their bbq on the Zambezi River. She said it was one of the coolest moments of her life.
After meeting them, I have to agree with Paige— Jacques oozes kindness. And Paige is an incredible life force that you can see reflected in the catch-light of Jacques eyes when he watches her.
Jacques and his groomsmen got ready at a private residence overlooking Mirror Lake and Paige and her bridesmaids got ready at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY.
They chose to do a private first look before the ceremony in the gardens at Whiteface Club & Resort and it was so sweet. Together they beamed, embraced, and you could feel their excitement.
Her long veil was so beautiful and they laughed as it danced around her in the wind during the ceremony, but what good is a gorgeous long veil if it can’t come to life with the help of a breeze? I just adored it.
“We think it’s important to recognize what fits when it comes along. Love should not be forced – it is easy and happy and comfortable. The right love supports you and makes you feel secure, not threatened. The right love makes you excited about what is next.” Jacques & Paige
“It’s important to be on each other’s side and support each other. Patience is hard, but necessary. Remember to laugh – it’s what makes it all worthwhile.” Paige & Jacques
Jacques and Paige,
Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to photograph such a lovely fall wedding, to preserve your memories and create keepsakes that will follow your family tree through it’s many branches to come. Much happiness and many blessings to you both in life & love.
