It Is A Happiness To Wonder
One of my sisters and I brainstormed some ideas for photos, including a garden tea party and a SuperMan scene, for my darling niece. My niece is nearly five and just a riot to be around. She loves princesses and Avengers. She talks about her lovies (stuffed animals) and the different merits of the Ninja Turtles. She loves trucks and pretty hair bows.
I just love that juxtaposition between the feminine and fearless/adventurer in her.
“Fairy tales had been her first experience of the magical universe, and more than once she had wondered why people ended up distancing themselves from that world, knowing the immense joy that childhood had brought to their lives.”
― Paulo Coelho
The tea party was pretty intensive for setting up, but included some very personal touches, like our mother’s tea set and our grandmother’s china plates and table.
“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.”
― G.K. Chesterton
She’s got a wild imagination, her storytelling is some of the best.
She proclaimed it was the best tea party ever. I don’t think she even noticed us taking photos.
That look. She is so Vogue.

My sister Kerry took this (above) photo too. I think it is my top favorite from the all the images. I’ve been working on convincing her to assist me with weddings this year 🙂
“It is a happiness to wonder; — it is a happiness to dream.”
― Edgar Allan Poe

My sister also drew up these buildings and got my little niece a SuperMan outfit, which she just adored. She kept asking if she could zoom around.
Too many just darling photos to really narrow it down to a few. I think 5 year olds might be my new favorite models. So easily amused and full of wonder.
Here’s to fairytales, wonderment, and imagination.
