Christopher & Lauren’s Story | Part 1, Rehearsal Dinner
I don’t even know where to begin. Except from the beginning.
Remember Chris & Lauren from their engagement session at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery (see here)? They have such a beautiful, storied history. Most of my wedding clients over the last few years began their love story via online dating sites. Not these two soul mates.
It all began in the sixth grade.
As I meandered around their rehearsal dinner I heard both their fathers recount in tandem the beginning from each of their point of view.
Lauren said their first meeting wasn’t exactly romantic, it happened on the bus as middle schoolers, after all. On her 13th birthday Chris came to visit her in the cafeteria at school and gave her a hug for the first time ever. She remembered thinking then that he was a really good hugger.
The following year Chris got a bike, and according to his dad, would go for bike rides that would last several hours. As a concerned father, he asked Chris how far he was riding out, to which Chris replied just around the corner. Lauren’s dad interjected at this point recalling how he would come home from work and see a bicycle parked at the front of their house.
Lauren and Chris continued to hang out over the next couple of years and spend time with each other, growing closer together in their friendship, until one day in High School Chris officially asked Lauren to be his girlfriend. They were 15 years old.
They dated 10 years before he would propose to Lauren.
Their rehearsal dinner was perfect. A beautiful September evening, surround by friends and family who came from near and far.
Part 2 continues their story, bringing us to their wedding day.
