An Intimate Lake Placid Wedding | Salvatore & Bobbie-Jo Married At Whiteface Club & Resort
Underneath uncertain, storm-laden skies, an intimate Lake Placid wedding took place at Whiteface Club and Resort.
And almost too symbolic for how life can be sometimes, those threatening clouds didn’t last and parted into a most contented sunset.
Bobbie-Jo and Salvatore had both been previously married and recently found themselves entering the dating world again. Not wanting to find someone in the bar scene, they both ended up on Match.com.
Bobbie was hesitant to try the online dating world, but her daughter encouraged her. And wouldn’t you know, the first day on the site she came across this really handsome man’s profile. Too shy, she didn’t reach out.
But guess who did?
The very man she had thought handsome, sent her a message:
“Hi. Cute dogs.”
“Hi. Thank you.”
That was it. Nothing else. Can you believe a love story can bloom out of so simple an exchange?
Sal couldn’t. A couple of days later he sent the same message to Bobbie- again.
And she laughed. This time though, they began to talk and learned over the course of a couple weeks that they had many similarities in common, and soon they had forgot they were even on a dating website because it began to feel like they had known each other forever.
Sal finally worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. It was a November evening and one Bobbie-Jo says she will never forget. He was LATE. By several hours. And just when Bobbie was about to call it off and hop back into pajamas for the evening- he rang to say he was on his way. Bobbie brought conversation starter cards, and over nachos & drinks their fate was sealed.
Ahhh the power of nachos.
Eventually they had their children meet and that part of their life just seemed to flow together. Everything they worried about as they became more serious just seemed to work out.
“Well a week has gone by since we said are vows.
I love looking at our rings, it reminds me of that special day and how beautiful you looked & always will! I know now that we are complete and love spending everyday watching our family grow. I will always love you, baby.
“To My Dearest Salvatore,
It seems like just yesterday that our journey started, yet it feels like it has been a journey of a thousand lifetimes in our hearts. You are without a doubt my soul mate, my better half, my everything. When you came into my life, my world became brighter and more alive. I was no longer afraid to love and give my heart freely to someone. I knew I could trust in you to be my rock and safe haven and I could trust in us that we would always have one another. From our first conversation, to our first date, to the moment we said “I do”, our life has been a crazy but exciting ride. We certainly didn’t follow traditions, but we definitely made our own. Our wedding day is forever locked into my memory and will always be a favorite day of ours. Even though you don’t think I see you, I catch you looking down at your wedding band A LOT. I love that look of peace and happiness that comes over you as you spin it around. And I absolutely love how you look down at my rings and grin from ear to ear, knowing I am completely yours. Oh, and did I mention how it makes me smile and laugh at how you jump at the chance to introduce me as your “wife”? Things like that make you the sexiest man on the face of the earth to me, and I find myself melting all over again. These little things make us who we are and I know we will always keep looking down at our rings and remembering what brought us together and how we are exactly where we were meant to be.
Thank you for being the wonderful man that you are and loving me like you do. You are my perfect match and the best thing that has ever happened to me. You’re the one thing I got right, and I will never let you go.
Sal and Bobbie,
Life probably didn’t go quite as you both thought it would, or should, in the beginning. And when we first started corresponding and I was getting to know you, you mentioned how you guys were far from the traditional couple. However, I really fell in love with your story because I actually think it’s more common of a story than we, or at least the wedding industry, like to tell. Not all relationships last, and some aren’t meant to, despite our best efforts. Each time a relationship ends, marriage or otherwise, we learn something about ourself and about the world of love. Those lessons become building blocks for an even stronger house in love. I really believe that is what you two have done. On your wedding day, everyone at Whiteface on could tell you two are madly in love. You’ve built a strong house of love that cherishes one another, adores all of your children, and will weather the storms that may threaten to come- or better yet, break into contented, evening sunsets.
Just as it did on your wedding day.
May there be an abundance of serene sunsets over Adirondack lakes shared between you as you continue to journey through this life together.
