An Illuminated Forest | The Color Version
“Green was the silence, wet was the light,
the month of June trembled like a butterfly.”
― Pablo Neruda,
I have been finding an incredible amount of photographic inspiration from just this small little patch of trees behind this rental house we are in. It actually blows my mind.
I was sad to leave my beloved swamp and 6 acre forest up on the Tug. I thought moving downstate, the inundation of people and urbanization, would just crush me and my sense of wonder.
I may not have the deer moving to and fro every dawn and dusk through the super highway that was my swamp. And I miss seeing my little fox sleuth every nook and cranny of the fern carpeted forest from my living room window.
But, I never had light like this.
The other morning I was once again drawn out of the house away from the cup of coffee because of the morning light that enchanted me so.
Ok that sounds corny, but it’s true. It was irresistible.
It was just the right amount of light pouring through the canopy, just the right amount of moisture and humidity lifting off the dew covered understory, thanks to the 90 degree heat wave.
And it is enough to remind me inspiration will always come. Even in the places you least expect to find it. We need change to facilitate growth, to stretch us and bring us to places beyond our wildest expectations.
