Adirondack With A Bit Of Elegance | Chris & Jessica Wed in Lake Placid, NY
She said all of their friends and family assumed the wedding would be in New Jersey. However, they surprised them all by announcing it would be nestled amongst the peaks of the Adirondacks, in the new place they recently made home.
Jessica is originally from New Jersey. She met Chris while working in Long Island where both work for the Department of Environmental Conservation for the state of New York. She and Chris would occasionally see each other at work and often hung out with the same people.
That’s how it started.
Chris asked her out
once twice over a three year or so span— and Jess turned him down both times. Women 😉
Jess decided to give him a chance after all and they went on their first date.
Crazy how things work out because shortly after that they were living together, got their Golden Retriever named Copper, and had transferred their jobs upstate to the north country of New York.
The proposal was completely unexpected. Jess had just come home from work and was getting ready to go to dinner. She was looking through her closet for something to wear, when she turned around Chris was on bended knee. In his boxers.
(Chris gets embarrassed by this part according to Jess, but she says if he didn’t want her to tell people he shouldn’t have proposed in his underwear — ha!)
Jess didn’t believe it to be real at first, she explains that Chris is a joker by nature. So she brushed passed him assuming he was up to his old antics, and I imagine, gave him the classic eye-roll-girl-look that only we women know how to do best.
He stopped her, and with complete sincerity, asked her to marry him. He told her that he chose their bedroom as the backdrop because it was the first room in their new house that they had renovated together.
I love that. To imagine and build a new room together and to have it be the launching pad to imagining and building a new life together.
Whiteface Club and Resort provided the perfect venue space for their wedding. Jess described her wedding style as Adirondacks with a bit of elegance. Whiteface Club & Resort did an incredible job, once again, helping bring to life all Jess and Chris could imagine up for their wedding day.
I think one of the most beautiful components of her day was her paperie, which was artfully and impeccably designed by her close friend and maid of honor (they describe each other more as sisters), Charlotte. Everything from the invitation suite, to the ceremony signage, to table place cards was designed by her.
I absolutely loved their use of the fireplace mantel to honor loved ones. So much warmth and love graced that stone.
I can’t tell you enough how cool of an idea the succulents were and how flawlessly they tied into all aspects of their wedding details. From the boutonnieres & bouquets, to the table place cards that doubled as guest wedding favors, to the decor on their wedding cake. Love it all.
I know I say every cake is my favorite. But this one really is my favorite. I just love every bit and angle of it. There are probably a gazillion pictures of their cake in their wedding collection because I just couldn’t stay away from it.
“Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.” Nicole Krauss
Jessica never stopped beaming and laughing the entire day, from the moment I walked into the cabin where she was readying, until the very end of the night. That is an infectious part of her personality that I have a feeling Chris finds so mesmerizing and attractive in her. I don’t know how anyone in her presence couldn’t.
Chris and Jess,
It was supremely sweet being able to spend the day with you both and being present for such a keystone time in your life. Sometimes wedding day schedules can be such a struggle to make it through, with stress creeping through the cracks at every angle. Not at all so with your wedding day, it was flawlessly and effortlessly fun and a joy to be able to watch you, your friends & your family as we documented your wedding day. You both are such kind souls and that shines through so bright after only spending one day in your presence. From the bottom of my heart, I truly enjoyed the opportunity to photograph your wedding and have the chance to be a sort of historian for you on the day you exchanged vows. May you continue to renovate together various rooms, homes, and your relationship throughout the years to come, building the ultimate beautiful, wonderful life.
Many thanks to the awesome vendors.
