Adam & Stephanie’s Ithaca New York Wedding
A month before the wedding, she shared that she thought photos of her getting ready would be an undoubtedly sweaty event. The morning of her wedding day she bemoaned the rainstorms in the forecast with an angry face emoticon.
Fears every bride to be deals with at one point or another before the day of their wedding.
But the reality of her wedding day was anything but those fears that might of caused her worry in the days and moments leading up to when the clock struck 3 on May 14, 2016.
The reality is that Stephanie was gorgeous and well composed as she slipped up under her wedding gown to get in it, as many-a-generation of women have done before her, with the help of her mother and sisters by blood & law.
I never mentioned to her earlier, but I had been racking my brain to figure out who she reminds me of and it was in those time-honored moments where I watched her finishing getting ready that I knew who. She reminds me of Kate Winslet with the way she carries herself. Stephanie, not only are you overabundantly kind, and witty, but you are stunning in a refined way.
A couple moments later, the double doors opened and Stephanie made her way down the aisle to Adam, her patiently waiting groom.
Adam and Stephanie met online and the 100mi difference between their lives quickly came together under the same roof. They knew from the beginning that they would be getting married.
Yes, the rain indeed fell from the spring skies in Ithaca and saturated the lime green sprouts making their way up through the earth, as they do this time of year in New York. But rain has a way of enhancing romance. I watched as Adam carefully and calculated, positioned the umbrella over his bride and hold her dress up off the ground as they walked. I smiled as they infectiously laughed together about the ridiculousness of the timing of the downpours.
All in all, I think their wedding day was more beautiful than my words can express.
Thank you, Adam & Stephanie, for letting Kerry and I into such an important moment in your life. Getting to know you both over the last year has been an unexpected good fortune. The more time that has been spent, both in your presence and via chatting through email or social media, I am convinced we would be hanging out if we lived closer and perhaps watching the latest GoT episodes together 😉
“I thought an hour ago that I loved you more than any woman has ever loved a man, but a half hour after that I knew that what I felt before was nothing compared to what I felt then. But ten minutes after that, I understood that my previous love was a puddle compared to the high seas before a storm.” William Goldman, The Princess Bride
May your love grow stronger by the minute, monumental by the hour, and deeper than the high seas. And may you always smile a little when it rains and remember as it was on your wedding day.
Special thank you to my sister, Kerry, for helping photograph and assist for their wedding. I love that I have always been able to depend on my talented family to help lend a hand. Kerry photographed some of my most favorite moments from their wedding.
